 10 tips on what to eat when trying to conceive. Your diet can have a massive effect on your fertility. 

  1. Too much or little of almost anything can have a negative effect on fertility. Too much food, too much exercise, too little food, too little exercise, too few carbs etc. Moderation is key.
  2. Oysters have been scientifically proven to enhance fertility due to is abundance of zinc. As a bonus it is also said to cause an increased sexual appetite!
  3. Coffee and even small amounts of alcohol may affect a women’s fertility. Alcohol consumption may reduce your chances of conceiving by up to 50%.
  4. It is said that a woman should eat grapefruits or drink natural grapefruit juice between her period and ovulation. This may assist in creating “sperm friendly” cervical discharge. However, you should stop eating if after ovulation as it may create difficulty for the egg to settle down if you continue.
  5. Eat at least 5 servings of raw, colorful and unsalted fruits, vegetables. nuts and seeds every day. Broccoli, parsley and sunflower seed are particularly nutrition-packed, but variety is key.
  6. Do not consume large quantities of soy as it may cause a hormone imbalance. Soy has properties similar to those of estrogen. However, low quantities of soy is believed to be ok.
  7. Cut down on “bad” fat and sugars. This may be of enormous help to you body id you are having trouble ovulating. Good fats like avocado, olives and fatty fish are great for you.
  8. Include whole grain food in your diet, swap white rice and paste with organic brown ones.
  9. Drink 8 - 10 glasses of water per day
